Description
The black and white version of this image highlights the light and shadows of the early morning light showcasing the Ocracoke Lighthouse on Silver Lake on a gorgeous August morning. The Ocracoke Light is the second oldest operating lighthouse in the nation. Ocracoke Light was built in Hyde County, on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina in 1823 by Massachusetts builder Noah Porter. The lighthouse stands 75 feet tall. Its diameter narrows from 25 feet at the base to 12 feet at its peak. Our family has visited Ocracoke for several generations and this classic view is one of our favorites.
