Artist's Description

Arlington National Cemetery covers 646 acres of gentle hills sweeping down to the Potomac. More than 400,000 people have been buried here, including two U.S. Presidents. The dead of the United States' conflicts and their family members have been buried here, beginning with the Civil War, as well as reinterred dead from earlier wars. There are many amazing views of the tombstones and Washington DC beyond. This winter vista of the cemetery with the outstretched arms of the tree overreaching the graves captures both the expanse and intimacy of this hallowed ground.

About Liz Albro

Liz Albro

A scientist learning to embrace herself as an artist. Behind my lens, I slow down and frame the world. Living and working in the DC metro area, it is easy to speed through my day. With my camera in hand, I pause, compose, recompose, and capture the details and wonders of our daily lives. My photography is embedded in the DMV, but extends beyond the mid-Atlantic as I travel around the world. The images that I love the most feature the green spaces of our world, whether in our secret garden or along a shoreline or in cities across the globe. I am thrilled to share my passion with you and hope you will join me on my visual journey.
